North Oakville is a hotspot for growth. Many new homes are being built in the areas north of Dundas Street and this will require more capacity for services – including schools. That’s why a new elementary school is being built at Sixth Line and Dundas.
The new school will be operated by the Halton District School Board and will have enough capacity for 776 students as well as 88 spaces for childcare.
This new infrastructure project will cost roughly $20.7 million and is scheduled to be complete by 2020.
Oakville is certainly known for the quality of its schools. As such, young and growing families may be interested in purchasing homes near this new school.
Homes located near schools tend to retain value, and grow in value – especially if a school develops a good reputation. By some estimates, homes located near high-quality schools can affect home prices by nearly 10% compared to homes in neighbouring districts.
Even if you don’t have kids, buying a home near a school is a good strategy to protect the value of a real estate purchase or investment. This will certainly be the case for Oakville’s new school.
